T22 and wireless mini PCI card

#1 Post by huz » Fri Dec 08, 2006 1:16 pm

Hi there,
I'm new and I've recently bought a T22. Love it, small and lightweight.

But there are no LAN/56k miniPCI combo card, and there aren't cables to connect one too...

I haven't opened it yet, but I understand by maintence manual that cables are present on I/O card so if I want to run ethernet port I have to:
- buy new I/O card for T22
- buy combo miniPCI LAN/modem device

insn't it? too expensive I think.
Or I could find cables?

If I buy a mini PCI wireless card?
- Can I build up antennas (homemade)?
- are there wifi cards that works with my T22? (I need WPA-TKIP encryption standard)

Thanks a lot.

Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy. I love my T22 also. I don't have much technical info to pass on, except to say that my T22 came with a 3Com mini PCI LAN/Modem installed. I have seen the 3COM for sale and they are not too expensive at all. I bought a Wireless-B Linksys Notebook Adapter for Wifi (goes in the PC slot), you can go on the Linksys website and they will remote configure the wireless card for your system.

On your initial question about installing wireless card in your T22, here is a good thread:

Good luck
