ThinkPad Port Replicator: 02K8667

Does anyone know whether the ThinkPad Port Replicator part # 02K8667 will work with a T42p 14.1" and/or 15" models? IBM web site is extremely vague and has nothing under compatibility list, but I saw this port replicator somewhere with a mention that it works with T, R, X and A ThinkPad lines. It was pretty inexpensive so I'm interested in getting one. I have two ThinkPads, both the 14.1" SXGA and 15" UXGA so ideally it would be nice if this replicator worked with both of them interchangably.

This port replicator belongs to T2X and T30 series, unfortunatelly will not work on the T42. I have one of these,currently using on my T30 and my wife has a T40. I have tried to connect, the connector looks very similar, but a dock/port replicator specific to T4X series is required.

Thanks! I'll have to notify the seller of this port replicator about their misleading advertising, then - it made it look like it works with virtually all Thinkpads, but I couldn't confirm that one way or the other on IBM web site. Well, good thing I didn't buy it then - even though it wasn't all that expensive.

I wondered about this, too. The T4x port replicator appears to be backwards compatible with most T X R series but apparently not the other way around. I know the USB ports are 1.1 on the older replicator. Did nothing work when you tried it or just a couple of funtionalities?

It wont physically fit - the connector has been moved on the new machines.
The new Port Replicator/Docks have a sliding bar to accomplish backwards compatibility...
