I would like to boot my 760 XL from a CD, but the CD isn't part of the boot sequence. I hope that I can add the CD drive to the boot sequence by changing the BIOS settings ... but for the life of me, I can't seem to get to BIOS Setup ...
What is the process for getting into BIOS Setup on my 760XL?

Welcome to thinkpads.com !
To enter the BIOS setup for your 760XL you need to press and hold the F1 key while turning power on. Continue to hold the F1 key until the Easy Setup (BIOS) screen appears. If the 760 is similar to my 600 systems, you should see a Start Up icon. Click it and then click the Power On icon. From there you should be able to setup which devices (and the order) the system will boot from.
If that doesn't work (since I've never owned or used a 760XL), then perhaps this thread will be of help:

You cannot change the boot equence in the BIOS of this notebook. The only way to boot from CD-ROM, is to use a boot manager. I use an external floppy drive with a boot diskette and the smart boot manager (see link above). That works fine, because I can use now Linux Live-CDs.
