After much fighting and research, I have finally gotten my Thinkpad T42p to work with my new Iogear KVM GCS-1734.
Initially, plugging the KVM cables into either my port replicator or directly to the laptop resulted in Windows XP (SP2) complaining that it couldn't find drivers for a USB device. After some looking into things, and comparing what the laptop was showing compared to what other working PC's showed I found that:
* The KVM was appearing as a Generic USB Hub to the computer.
* My Thinkpad wasn't recognizing it as such.
The issue is that no .INF file on my laptop had an entry for the Compatiblity ID "usb\class_09&subclass_00&prot_00"
My laptop didn't have a USB.INF file, but one of the working XP Pro desktops did have one. I copied it into my Windows\Inf folder, plugged the KVM USB cable back in, and everything worked great.
