T43p problem with booting

#1 Post by Kiwi » Sun Dec 10, 2006 5:37 am

On boot my thinkpad stops loading at the ibm/thinkpad splash screen (where you can press the Access IBM button etc..), but it doesnt respond at anything, even when i push the access ibm button. When i shut it off, take the battery out for a moment and i try again it passes that screen.. :? I have bios 1.29..

thanks

Welcome here.

Have you tried when it passes the splash screen go into BIOS and reset to factory defaults the BIOS parameters??

Is your laptop still under warranty?

Still 2years warranty left, didnt try to reset to factory but will be my next option. I couple of minutes ago I booted the machine and left it at the screen and suddenly after a minute of 2 it starts loading Windows?

Is it possible that there is a problem with the RAM? Cause hibernating doesnt work either..

You could try download PC Doctor and run the full diagnostics to see what's wrong with your machine.

Alternatively you could get Memtest86 - Memory Diagnostics and see if there's an error poping-up.

Did you upgrade RAM
