Need a Win 2000 Pro recovery disk for X23

#1 Post by DPHMIN » Sun Dec 10, 2006 2:49 pm

A couple of days ago my X23 gave me a blue screen with "Inaccessable Boot Device" message. Acording to what I can determine, reinstalling Win 2000 with a repair function should fix my problem. The only problem is that I don't have a Win 2000 CD. According to Lenovo's sight, the no longer offer recovery disks for Win 2000.

If anyone has a recovery disk for the X23, I'd be glad to pay you for it.

TIA,

I don't have one, but any OEM disc would work. Use the product key on your X23's Certificate of Authenticity sticker to install it. Then use IBM/Lenovo's Software Installer to download and install all device drivers.

DPHMIN,

If I can get my hands on a Win2K install CD, I'll burn you a copy.

Likewise! Do you know if a recovery disk for an X20 will work with the X21 and X23? I have found someone who has one and I may be able to get it from him.

I don't know about the X21 or X23, but I do need a recovery disc for the X20 :)

It wouldn't surprise me if an X20 CD worked on the X21 because they are more similar than the X21 is to the X22.

A friend is coming to visit his parents for Christmas on Monday, and is supposed to be bringing me a Windows 2000 installaion CD. If he does, I'll let you know, and maybe we'll be able to get all of our X series back in operation.

My friend brought me a set of Windows 2000 Pro disks, and I ran the Repair installation. It did a CHKDSK, and everything ckecked out normal. Repaired the boot sector and now my X23 is perking along great! Praise The Lord!

Although He came to earth over 2,000 years ago, He is still alive today!

Merry Christmas to all!
