T23 backlight aging?

#1 Post by tp23 » Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:12 pm

My T23 screen is not bright anymore and whites are very warm-toned. Could this be the inverter becoming weak or is the backlight failing?

Generally, if the inverter has a problem you would see no light at all. It is possible that an inverter that is outputting a lower voltage than normal can cause reduced light, but not "warm". If the backlight looks pinkish/reddish upon first turning on and then slowly gets white(r), then most likely your lamp is reaching the end of its life.

The inverter is easy (and fairly cheap) to replace; the backlight much less so. If this were my system, from your description, I would first swap out the inverter (and be prepared to be disappointed) and then swap out the LCD. A user here in the forums, "basscleff", has performed a backlight replacement. You may want to contact him.

I had the same effect on my T22. White was more like a bit yellow. Changed the TFT and the picture is now crystal clear.
