600E - intermittant power up problems

#1 Post by mlawr3nc3 » Tue May 18, 2004 5:51 am

:?: Can anyone please help, I have a 600E 366 which sometimes will boot & most other times won't!

The symptoms are...
Power light on
HDD light stays on
HDD spins up
Does not get to POST - screen stays blank.
FDD & CD are not accessed.

This stays the same with all of the following removed...
HDD
Memory SIMMs
CDRom
Battery
CMOS battery

Any ideas would be gratefully accepted!
Thanks.
Mark

Change the CMOS battery!

BTW, if you take out the CMOS battery it's IMPOSSIBLE for a 600 series machine to BOOT unless it's docked.

:P Managed to get the machine up & running - only way was a system board replacement. Now all I have to do is figure out why it will not run off battery power. :?:
