770 Display
770 Display
What is with the thinkpad 770's crude display? Full screen...gross resolution. Small screen...big black border. What's the point of a 14.1 " screen? Same problem when I hookup to external monitor.
My earlier model thinkpad 760xl doesn't have this problem. I've read several postings concerning this issue. Can there be that many solutions to the same problem?
I would appreciate any help any of you could provide to this computer novice. Thank you,
Stephen

With the driver properly installed, you should get a maximum resolution of 1024x768 on the internal monitor, or 1280x1024 externally.

What did you do exactly? If you just download the file and double-click on the icon, you are probably just extracting the files to a folder, not executing them. You need to go to Device Manager and install the driver.babaloo wrote:Well the file was downloaded and installed. No effect.

Sorry about the delay in responding to your last post. I didn't have access to the forum for a couple of days.
I am getting this message:
"the location does not contain information about your hardware"
when I try to install the display driver from the A: drive floppy.
Haven't been able to figure out how to install the driver from my desktop in Win 98SE.
Thank you!

Are you following the instructions from the link cmarti gave? Can you tell us exactly when you get this message in the list of steps?:babaloo wrote:I am getting this message:

For Windows ME, use the Windows 98 drivers. If no Windows 98 drivers are available and the OS doesn't have drivers built in, use the Windows 95 drivers.
