seagate 160gb hd in T43 - help

Hey everyone,

I'm attempting to upgrade my IBM Thinkpad T43 (2687-D8U) with a seagate momentus 5400.3 160GB hard drive (ST9160821A).

I found out about the "2010 error" after installing the drive. I've read the 2010 error threads on this forum as well as others, and still I'm having no success with the install.

I know that there is a firmware upgrade available for some drives (but as far as I know - not this specific one). I've talked to a tech at Seagate who is aware of the problem but couldn't help.

So, given that most of the threads on this issue are pretty old, is there now a preferred method to get around this problem? What's my best bet? Thanks very much.
