Semantec Software Uninstallation?

#1 Post by NRM » Fri Dec 15, 2006 7:36 pm

Hi everyone, I just received my Thinkpad T60 today :D

I have a subscription with Mcafee, and I prefer their software. Can I take off the Semantec crap with no effects on my computer? What will be taken away if I delete all the Semantec stuff?

Thanks.

You should be able to uninstall the Symantec software without consequence. Make sure you get all the applications as typically there are several.

I agree with Ken Fox. Normally you should not have a problem. If you really want to make sure, use the following.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool
DKB

I did that, and it seemed to work okay. However, later when I was uninstalling McAfee so I could install Avast, the uninstallation procedure froze up. Later on, when I reinstalled Windows from the recovery partition, I just told it to skip all Symantec software. I then installed Avast directly.
