slow video rendering

#1 Post by jvoth » Sat Dec 16, 2006 8:16 am

Dear all,

I have a T42 (2 GB, Hitachi 7k100), and it has this weird problem of a sudden. It outputs video really slowly, with the screen slowly being written from top to bottom (takes about 1/2 second). I previously ever had this when i had lots of windows open. Now I get it constantly. I recently upped the RAM to 2 GB, and i am using the ATI RAdeon Mobility Driver workaround to get iPivot to work. The problem didn't appear immediately after either of these things. Any thoughts? I tried disabling the power play function on the ati card, but still no luck.

many thanks!
JV

If you right-click on an open area of your desktop, choose Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot. Is the Hardware acceleration slider set to Full?

Try running Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and click on the Processes tab. Under Options make sure Always On Top is checked. Watch for anything other than the System Idle Process with a large amount of CPU utilization.
