ques about warranty on batteries

#1 Post by mojer21 » Sat Dec 16, 2006 4:31 pm

would it be possible to get the battery replaced if it starts losing its charge? im still under the 1 year warranty. im currently on 231 cycles and im down to 47Wh compared to 56Wh design capacity.

Yep just call and tell them. They'll send you a new one with a box to send back your old one. You have 30 days to return your old one, or else they'll charge you for the replacement.

Under the "Battery Characteristics" section of the Battery Tips help item (you can find the Battery Tips button in the Battery Information menu entry when you left-click on the Battery Maximiser icon) it states that Lithium-Ion batteries can get down to 70% of design capacity after a year from brand new. 47 out of 56 Wh is 84%, which is inside that specification. How far through the 1 years worth of warranty are you? I'd say that if you're close to the 1 year mark, losing 9 Wh would not be grounds for a warranty claim.

Question..

#4 Post by DarkThinker » Thu Dec 28, 2006 3:20 am

I got my T60 Thinkpad back in May, I got it with a 6-cell battery and to keep it short here is my output straight from the ACPI subsystem:

Code: Select all

 Battery #1 : present
    Remaining capacity : 24660 mWh, 75.25%, 01:32:32
    Design capacity : 56160 mWh
Last full capacity : 32770 mWh, 58.35% of design capacity
    Capacity loss : 41.65%
    Present rate : 15988 mW
    Charging state : discharging
    Battery type : rechargeable, LION
    Model number : 92P1137
    Serial number : XXXX
Now, does this mean that I 'am eligible for a warranty replacement of my battery?

Thanks
