new T60P - screen would not turn back on after turning off
new T60P - screen would not turn back on after turning off
I've discovered a new problem on my new thinkpad. Whenever I leave the computer on AC and not use it for 20 mins, the power management kicks in and shuts down the monitor. However, no matter what I try (touchpad, keyboard, fn key....) the computer would not turn the display back on. The computer is definitely on though, because the hard drive activity light is normal.
The only way I could bring it out of this situation is by either shutting down, or bring it to standby and power it back on.
Does anyone have a fix for this issue?

did you try Fn+f7 , and press enter, what this does is:
acces the ThinkVantage Display Scheme
pressing enter :
will select the normal display setting
just away to jolt the system i think,
=============================
you can also try
FN+space bar, this will activate the magnification feature, again just jolting the system.
If I think of anything that will solve it permanently ill post it.
thanks

I've seen a couple of threads on this. Take a look at these.

The MS patch is a definitive fix.
I've not seen this issue since installing it a few months back.
Everyone with these "function timer" issues should be sure to check the threads on how the ThinkVantage Power Management functions work in conjunction with basic Windows Power Management schemes to avoid other issues early on. The first tendency is to fool around with timer settings and usually after seeing a post about the screen not resuming there is a series of posts about broken Power Management schemes.
The PM issues are a constant source of aggravation and inconvenience to new T60 users and can be avoided by doing a little research and reading here on the forum early on and before modifying PM profiles.
