Vibrating noise coming from Ultrabay slot

#1 Post by indessen » Mon Dec 18, 2006 5:26 pm

Hello,

when I type on the R52, recently I started getting a vibrating noise when typing that lead me to take the whole laptop apart to try and locate it: turns out a piece of metal that is part of the release mechanism of the Ultrabay slot, i.e. underneath what goes inside, part of the chassis of the laptop so to speak. When I shift the release button of the ultrabay and the lever pops out, the vibrating stops.

anyone had/have this too?

Alex

It's vibrating even just sitting idle?

Is it your optical drive spinning and creating the vibration?
[insert witty contrived signature here]

It makes a vibrating noise when I type, irrespective of whether the bay has something inserted (such as a cd-drive) or not. The vibrating noise is coming from a metal plate that is part of the release system. it is NOT coming from an inserted cd-drive.
