Can you put a 600X screen (13") on the 600 (12")

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Can you put a 600X screen (13") on the 600 (12")

I was wondering if I could put an old 600X screen on a 600E. The laptops seem similar enough in size. Would it fit? If so, any idea if the NeoMagic card on the 600E could push 1024x768?

>...600e & 600x...

twbook.pdf shows both use the same screen: 13.3" XGA 1024*768
maybe you mean 600: the 2645-31U/35U both used 12.1" SVGA screens
but evidently the 600 controller is OK for XGA since some 600 models
have the same screen as the 600e/x. Whether all the screws etc are the
same...don't know--a little experimentation should settle that:-)

the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)

The 600E should have come with a 13.3" XGA (1024x768) screen. At least that's what all of the information I can find on them says. The 13.3" displays on the 600X were also XGA LCDs so you shouldn't have any problems. If your screen actually measures 12" then maybe you have a 600 system?

(edit: Sorry Tom, I was interrupted from posting my message for a few minutes... shoulda "Previewed" before I put mine up!)
