Possible Display Upgrades for R51e

#1 Post by 17b » Tue Dec 19, 2006 5:14 am

Hi,
i'm new to this forum and have a question:
I would like to replace the XGA Display of my R51e with SXGA or UXGA. I used the search, but couldnt find anything about R51e and Displayupgrades.

Looking for the Hardware, i discovered Ebay Auction 200059333526 and 200059338893. Is someone here familiar with replacing Displays and can tell me if these are the right displays? Do i need additional stuff to do the job?

Sorry for my poor english

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Stefan

I haven't read about anyone doing an R51/R51e display upgrade. However, the people who have done that with a T-series bought a display and inverter board from the correct T-series model, and were apparently able to get it running without any significant issues.

Hm, there are a lot of Displays out there, but the Question is, do they fit into the Bezel and what about the Pinning of the connector?
I read about 20 pin and 30 pin connectors. Is the Pinout of the 30 Pin Connectors all the same or are they different?

I've done several upgrades (and downgrades) between R5x to another R5x and a T4x to another T4x but I haven't tried doing a cross series swap. If you're planning to do so, I believe they are sized identically.

The key is to check that the Video Chip (and/or chipset) of the host machine supports the LCD type of the donor machine. Then get the correct matching LCD cable and inverter as a set to avoid incompatibilities.

Well, can somebody please answer the last questions?
It seems to me, that there are not so much R51e sold here in Germany as there are in US.
