Can't update bios due to power

I downloaded and created the IBM flash disk for my 560z, however once started it checks for power and says check power cord is connected - it is and battery is charged, trired without battery same message - I have the power set to never sleep etc pc will run indefitently but can't get around this startup for flashing any suggestions?
refuse to let my 560z die

It may just be saying that you should be really sure; not that it can't detect it.

What happens if you tell it to continue?

It will just go back to first step again, 2nd time or 3 times always the same
refuse to let my 560z die
