Mouse won't work with docking station and KVM

#1 Post by kjjb0204 » Tue Dec 19, 2006 1:55 pm

I have a T40 from work with a dock and kvm. The keyboard works fine on both machines (the other being a self-built desktop), but my mouse doesn't work on the t40. It will work on the T40 if I start fresh on that machine from booting, but as soon as I toggle to my desktop, then back to the t40, the mouse loses connectivity. Still works on the desktop though. My only solution right now is to have a usb wireless mouse plugged into the dock and use two mice on my desk. Any suggestions on how to get the ps/2 mouse to work on the dock/t40 when hot switching back and forth with a kvm? Just to clarify, the keyboard and mouse I'm talking about are the full size units plugged into the ps/2 kvm switch.

Thanks in advance for your help!

This has been discussed before.. comes down to the KVM that you are using. I am typing this on a T41 connected to a Cybex KVM and everything works. I have two more workstations attached as well. The Cybex is one of the few ps2 style KVM that I know works for T2x, T4x thinkpads. Unfortunately, this KVM does not work for my T60 (no mouse functions) so I may be looking for a USB type KVM to try out.
