Looking for
Ok well first time your gonna see a looking for subject without a specifics on the system.
Im looking for a system for 2 6 year old girls to use Not worried about speed or anything like that. Just need something they can do their little games on. I dont have a lot of money to spend as we just lost our house in a fire (Im still not allowed in the kitchen) But they have asked for one since theirs got destroyed. Anyone that has something they think might help me can pm and I will take a look. I cant promise that I can even afford one but want to at least make an effort for them.
Thanks
Curtis in flat ole Kansas

Another vote for the 600E. It's very cheap, but good enough for most adults, and certainly for 6-year-olds. Fairly big screen, built-in CD drive, one USB port, good speakers, very sturdy, pretty light.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Or even better, one with a DVD drive, so that it can be used as a portable DVD player as well...pianowizard wrote:Another vote for the 600E. I thought about that, but that would make the laptop cost more. But if the OP can find one with DVD that's still affordable, that would be ideal!tfflivemb2 wrote:Or even better, one with a DVD drive, so that it can be used as a portable DVD player as well...

My 5yo has a T30 and my 2yo has a A31p. Those work perfect for them. Their barbie/spongebob/candyland games run just fine on them. I will age down my T40 to them next year, depending if they get more graphic intensive games.
The SWF stuff on the internet now runs fine on about anything for now.

Wow... I can't believe I'm finding myself envying a 2yr old's computer.AssPenny wrote:My 5yo has a T30 and my 2yo has a A31p. Those work perfect for them. I 'm not sure I totally agree here... Barbie.com really beats the heck out of my 7 yr. old daughter's unmodified 600E running Win98SE.The SWF stuff on the internet now runs fine on about anything for now.

Yeah I have and have considered it but finding games for them can sometimes be a pain and also games for kids 6 years old that they like are a pain as well. Plus with a laptop its something I dont have to constantly buy games for as they enjoy quite a few free-ware and shareware games.boon wrote:have you try maybe buy a ps1 or something as they are much cheaper than getting a laptop. or maybe even a nintendo 64

The A31p is a heavy laptop! Can they even lift it?AssPenny wrote:My 5yo has a T30 and my 2yo has a A31p.
Also, a laptop is much more educational. Starting to learn how to use computers at such a young age is very beneficial.liliggyracin wrote:Plus with a laptop its something I dont have to constantly buy games for as they enjoy quite a few free-ware and shareware games.
