Anyone running at *N* rate with T60 + Atheros a/b/g/n card?

#1 Post by twister » Wed Dec 20, 2006 8:58 pm

Just got my new T60 C2D with Atheros 11a/b/g/n wireless LAN mini-pci card. Knowing that Belkin "N1" also has Atheros chipset, got that router as well. I have all the latest firmware for Belkin N1 and wireless card as well as the latest Access Connection version. But, I'm not able to connect at "N" speed, only "G" 54mbps :( I called IBM/Lenovo tech support, and after 30 minutes on the phone, they informed me that a new Atheros a/b/g/n card does not support yet "N" rate and I have to wait for a new driver sometimes in the future.

Is there anybody with Atheros mini-pci card being able to connect at "N" rate? If so, what wireless router are you using and how do you have your connection configured?

Consider checking with Atheros tech support. Perhaps a call to corporate HQ if you get resistance. It seems totally irresonsible to release some hardware without the supporting drivers and Atheros may have such a driver for you to use.

Atheros website doesn't give you any support info. I'm pretty sure Lenove will have it as soon as it available. Whats really interesting is that latest Thinkvantage Access Connection version took out "n" out wireless mode selection. Hmm, I guess they are not ready for it yet. But, the good news is that Belkin "N1" uses the same Atheros chipset so there should not be any problem with compatibility when drivers are ready ;)

I'd actually try to call Atheros. If not listed on the web site, call 411 and see if they have the drivers.
