T30 SXGA+ LCD replacement problem

#1 Post by traveller » Thu Dec 21, 2006 8:32 am

Hi all,
Hope someone can advise me.
I have the T30 (2366) with SXGA+ lcd which has gone faulty and I have to replace the screen....can I use an alternate 14.1" screen ? it appears to be hard to get the original in the UK and I am really looking for a good second user one due to cost. the part numbers I have been given from the repair shop are:
FRU 11P8296 and LTN141PE.L01

Are there any other thinkpad screens that I can use instead ?.

Many thanks in advance

hello i have a couple of t30's that i have replaced the panels in first thing go to lenovo web site then search for the fru for t30 this will show the various panels fitted plus the other bits needed to suit a specific panel.
for each panel there may be the need to change
a. the main ribbon cable.
b. also the inverter.

. the inverter maywell be fine but the ribbon most likely will have to be changed , you could try ebay for a sxga panel i got one from china ,cost with shipping about £105 inc backlight this brand new panel was a straight swop in, would give you the name but that maynot be allowed here although , if no one raises a point of complaint during tonight i will pass it on . to sum up best to go with what you have its about a 10-20 min job it make a valuable t30 with sxga fitted .

Thanks for that Ian...............nothing on ebay at present so may have to try further afield.

I was hoping that perhaps it would have been possible to use a display from the T23 model there seem to be a lot of them around.
Hopefully I may also get more suggestions.

Kind regards
