Lenovo Software Installer showing 'not installed' (T41)
Lenovo Software Installer showing 'not installed' (T41)
hi this is a new problem.
i ran the installer again today to search for and install new software for my T41.
last time everything was fine. this time it showed no new internet stuff, so i decided to check the 'already available on your computer'.
well it showed me a big list of stuff. i was surprised but installed it all anyway.
and now it shows again that those things are not installed!
also, for the 'rescue/recovery' update, it shows 2 of them. one says 'engish' on the name. the other one did not install, saying it is an older version. again, both of them are now showing as 'not installed'.

Halfcard, it sounds like you have been hit with PC Doctor 5. Visit here

Maybe, but before I would jump to any conclusions, go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and check box at top to Show Updates. Do you have a number of Windows Updates showing up under Windows XP - Software Updates? If not, you may have the PC Doctor update snafu. Do you see strange entries in Add or Remove Programs? If so, you may have the PC Doctor update snafu. If neither of the above are true, then your problem is probably just with the IBM/Lenovo installer you are using.spwhiting@ wrote:Halfcard, it sounds like you have been hit with PC Doctor 5.

update:
i downloaded the new 'system update' - it just seemed to sit there forever while sayiing it was updating itself!!
i tried it again another day and just left the computer for a day; when i came back 'system update' was finally working.
i don't have 'software installer' any more.
now everything seems ok except i don't know how to check the currently installed driver versions.
thanks for your help above.

Re: Lenovo Software Installer showing 'not installed' (T41)
I don't have an answer for you, but in case it makes you feel any better, I had a similar experience last month with my T42p. All of a sudden, from one day to the next, the software installer and system update applications were indicating that 'nothing' was installed and prompting me to install 'everything' - all stuff that I knew was present on the computer, because I had just installed a new hard drive and rebuilt everything from scratch a week earlier.halfcard wrote:...well it showed me a big list of stuff. i was surprised but installed it all anyway and now it shows again that those things are not installed!
I let the computer go ahead and re-install all the things that I knew were there anyway - now the computer is happy and the list of supposedly 'new and missing' stuff is gone.
Things happen, I guess.
