how to partition my laptop??

hi all..

how can i make another partition on my laptop?

i just have C:
i want to install other windows in new partition but i fear to lost my data or/and my orginal windows!!

so any one know??

There are programs like PartitionMagic for doing this kind of thing. It is advisable to backup your data before you start - just in case you run into a problem.

I ran PartitionMagic to create a secondary partition so I could dual-boot XP and Vista. The program worked like a charm.

I agree with the poster above though. Always backup your data before trying something like this. PartitionMagic was not as friendly with a friend's HP notebook. Long story short, I spent a day trying to recover his hard drive.

Personally, I would avoid Partition Magic. It used to be good, but around the time it was taken over by Symantec, it got buggy (much like everything else they touch).

Maybe try something like GParted (although I haven't personally tried it yet, I've heard good things).

Ive never had a problem with Partition Magic 8.
ThinkPad user and ThinkPads.com member since summer, 2006. That was a good summer.

I used GParted. It's free - found online. A new release just came out. It worked well for me.

Another program you can use is Acronis Partion Expert.

Gparted is pretty cool, it is free (legally) and it works well, and fairly intuitive. Go for Gparted.
