Stuck/Dead Pixels
Stuck/Dead Pixels
Hey everybody...1st post here!
I just received my new c2d t60. It has a couple of stuck pixels in the middle of the screen and they dissapear after restarts...weird. After about an hour of use theyre back again. Is this normal or should I give Lenovo a call?
Also, my power adaptor is emitting a high pitch buzzing sound, anyone with the same problem?
Oh...and also, every now and then the screen flickers...superfast and then goes back to normal. What do you think...did I get a lemon?

I would check for driver upgrades on the video card for the flashing part. As for the stuck pixels not sure. Sounds like maybe a couple burnt in but not 100 percent sure. And as for the power adapter. Ive had a couple that made that noise but never affected the performance. Although you had to have it sitting on the desk next to you before you could hear anything.
Your pixel issue sounds like the Ultranav "bug" that is well known.

This may be your display problem. There are other threads related to flickering. Search the T60 forum using the search button at the top of the page, and use flickering for your search term.

The UltraNav bug generally makes only one false stuck pixel at any time, not 2+ or more. They could still be light "sticky" pixels that get stuck and unstuck.

One thing you could try to see if the UltraNav "bug" is causing your pixel issue is to disable the TrackPad for awhile and see if the stuck pixels still show up. I have my TrackPad disabled and I never see the Ultranav "bug" with this setup. The best way to disable is with the UltraNav Wizard (no reboot required). Alternatively you can disable with ThinkPad Configuration or in the BIOS (both of which require a reboot).

What are you doing when the screen flashes like that and does it just flash to black or white?brikeh wrote: Oh...and also, every now and then the screen flickers...superfast and then goes back to normal. What do you think...did I get a lemon?

Oh wow, thanks you guys. A lot of very informative answers. This might actually be something like the "ultra Nav Bug" + one actual dead pixel now, I do use firefox and I will try to disable the trackpad. Thanks for your replies, Ill let you know how it goes.
So...how do I turn the UltraNav off?

Method 1. Go to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > UltraNav Wizard. Uncheck box to Enable Touch Pad on upper right, then click on OK.brikeh wrote:So...how do I turn the UltraNav off?
Method 2. Go to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > ThinkPad Configuration. Click on TouchPad on the left then on arrow of dropdown menu to choose Disable instead of Automatic. Reboot.
Method 3. Reboot and press F1 at the beginning of the boot sequence to enter the BIOS setup menu. Go to Config > Keyboard/mouse, and choose Disable instead of Automatic for Touch pad. Choose Restart, then Exit Saving Changes.
