V5250 with 512MB?

#1 Post by zigver » Fri Dec 22, 2006 9:58 pm

I just received my T60p and XP is reporting 512MB of memory. Is this truely the amount of physical ram on the video card? I haven't seen anything to indicate that it would be other than 256MB.

No. It is 256 and probably taking another 256 via "hypermemory" from system RAM for extra shaders, etc. You should be able to turn that off in either the BIOS or ATI control center (don't remember which).

When I checked the bios or the catalyst, I don't see how to turn off the "hypermemory". According to my friend in graphic related business, it's not good to enable that feature since it will decrease the performance dramatically. So... if anybody has ideas about how to turn the hypermemory off, I would be glad to know. Thanks.

Hi, you can't disable ist because it makes no scence.
Hypermemory uses System Ram if it needs to.
It is defently faster with hypermemory so don't worry ;)
sry, can't explain it closer, but take a search at google and you will find the answer :)

cu :)
