ATI Driver Compatability

#1 Post by gevaudan » Sat Dec 23, 2006 1:38 am

Anyone else tried the new ATI Driver released for the t60p? I have a FireGL card and had a dismal experience using the new driver. Upon installation, there was a noticable flicker when browsing the start menu and doing other routine activities. In fact, Microsoft's ATI driver seemed to fair much better so I switched back. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

As an aside, I was very dissapointed by Vista's OpenGL support. When I ran my favorite screensaver (Euphoria) on Vista, I was litterally getting about 2 frames per second. This was when using both drivers. I knew that MS was planning on making it harder to incorporate new OpenGL standards in Vista, but I would have hoped that they would not have gone so far to cripple current support.

On my desktop, I also found Microsoft's ATI driver was considerably better than the driver from ATI itself. Only Microsoft's could run at full resolution.
