Whose fault do you think this is? The person who do not want to encrypt his/her wireless network is just tempting others to tap on his/her network.

Any comments?

I do this all the time, not maliciously just to check email and stuff. If someone wants to keep me or others off their wireless connection they need to enable ssid or some type of encryption.

Since it is a law over there and he knew about it then he'll have to suffer the consequences, but it is hard to believe he'd be so forthcoming to tell someone he was surfing using someone elses connetion as opposed to maybe just playing a game or some other lame excuse.

Well, i believed that this is done by the authorities to make sure that all those who piggybacked on other's wireless will get a scare and will not re-commit the same offence again.

I am always tapping on someone's wireless network: my neighbour, some strangers whom i do not know and etc...

Hey, i do not know that this is an offence until this boy got arrested and charged in court. This boy also don't know that this is an offence either. But some people who called into the media station argued that: if i left my door open, does it mean that you can enter my house without my permission provided that you are a stranger?

That boy is just logging in to chat with his friends online and not surfing any gambling or undesirable websites nor is he using the network to hack or spam others.

In fact, during the 1st of Dec 2006, singapore is providing free wireless network (wireless@SG) at many public places for laptop users. ;-)

Singapore is a FINE country!!! <-- indeed!
