How thick is your T43? (_really_)

#1 Post by Growly » Sun Dec 24, 2006 8:31 am

Hello all!

Seen an auction for a T43 on a local site, but there is no mention of the unit's thickness. I am aware of the technical specifications and their reported thickness, but these are often nothing but lies.

Please, if you have a T43 and some time, measure the thickness of the machine (lid closed and all) and post here :)

The exact type is a 2668 PM2, but all models are welcome (if you know yours, please state).

Thanks for you time, you wonderful, blessed people.

Love,
Growly

My T43 isn't with me right now, but can tell you that the published thickness of 1.0-1.2" (or 26.6-31.4mm) is accurate. What's often not accurate is the weight. I know this because I have weighed most Thinkpads that I have owned. The published weights are usually overestimates.

My T42 (see sig) is 1 1/4" (32mm) thin at the rear and 1 1/8" (28mm) thin at the front. I'm pretty sure the T42 and T43 share the same chassis, but willing to be corrected on that . . . HTH.

When I get the time, I will post measurements of my T43, just a tad busy right now. Also, except for some small internal differences, the T43 and T42 share the same chassis per form factor (14.1" or 15"). :)

I just made the measurements and confirmed that the official values of 26.6-31.4mm are very accurate.
