For those that are Religious...your assistance is requiered
I don't want this to turn into a "Religious Debate". So MODS please lock so NO RESPONSES can be made.
All I ask is this:
This has been a challenging year for me...my Mom has her own business and unfortunately due to her declining health the business is not doing too well. I have been helping financially which has hit me hard as well (on top of her health problems)...I do not know how much longer I will be able to help both emotionally and financially. I have my own goals, my own life and I do not want to "own the family business". Owning “the family business” will entail me to quit my job, sell my house and move out of state; I am not ready for that…..I have my own family now…
Well, just when it could not get any worse…it did…
The business is with “Executive Vehicles” they are luxury vehicles to transport executives from and to meetings (airport to meetings, meetings to hotels, hotels to airport, etc). Friday at around 8PM EST, one of the vehicles hit and killed a pedestrian. All investigations by the Police and eye witness accounts point to the pedestrian being at fault. My mom is devastated, and so am I; while I do believe in using lethal force when warranted…stuff like this hits me hard! The gentlemen in question was on his way back from work/shopping (he had taken the bus) as he exited the bus he went to the rear of the bus and proceeded to cross the road, he had some gifts on his backpack and some bags with gifts as well, on both hands. I guess the excitement of seeing his family (he was only two blocks away from his house) and bringing gifts clouded his judgment as he crossed the road, he died instantly. He leaves behind a wife and three children, ages 10, 4 and 1; he was 32.
Please be safe this Holiday season, it only takes a split second… and remember that some of our actions can affect even those we don’t even know….
I hope he rests in peace and that his family and my family can overcome the difficult times ahead……your prayers are encouraged and appreciated….
Thank you,
Tony

draco, I feel your pain and I'm not locking the thread. Last week I was first on scene of a head on collision and tried to help save a guy who had a serious head injury it was very gruesome and one of those things where other people are driving by looking and not stopping to help, it was a helpless feeling. When the emt's finally got there out of curiosity I looked in his jeep (ragtop model) and there were a bunch of wrapped christmas gifts in the back, the passenger air bag was deployed but not the drivers, there was no passenger so I thought this was odd.
Anyway it shakes you up a bit, and the co workers I talked to that day I told to drive very carefully and really, really meant it that time. It's not worth getting there on time or faster if you never get there.
A Sergeant Major told me once that "adversity builds character", this has stuck with me all my life and is so true, it's the hard times we go through that make us better people, and how we deal with these times that set the stage for the rest of our lives.

I never shy away from praying for ANYBODY! I cant say i understand because i do not. All we can hope for now is that the man believed and followed Jesus. It says very plainly in the Word that there is no other way to Heaven than through the Father. I pray he gave his life to the Lord and lived out his days serving Him. All that aside I will pray for peace for his family, your family and all those involved. As far as the family business situation all you can do is your best. Only you know in your heart what your best is. Pray for wisdom about this decision. We have to individually seek out the Word at all times in our life, not just in tough times and tragedy. It says in James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to ALL without reproach, and it will be given to him." While you can't necessarily move your family across country and relocate yourself, maybe you can. Like i said you have to seek out the Lord and ask Him for wisdom about this. John 15:13 "Greater love no one has than this, that he would lay down his life for his friends." We all have the ability to pray and have our prayers answered. It also says in James 5:16 "confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another that you may be healed; the effective prayer of a righteous man can availeth much." Now I know in all confidence not arrogance that I am a righteous man. But, we all can help ourselves by getting right with God and helping ourselves a lil bit too! What an awesome time of the year right now. Jesus was born and COMPLETELY changed the face of the world. He died so that we may be set free and have life through Him. Merry Christmas!!!

Best wishes to both families, I am sure that people will pray for the victim. Dealing with such incidents isn't a pleassant experience, I know from first hand experience. It gets worse if there are gifts or children involved.

Thank you!
I had to work that weekend (IT!!), plus I can't have my crew always taking all the "heat"!! I just could not get things done on a timely fashion, so Sunday I left early....
Well, I make it to the first intersection....light changes from Yellow to Red...1 second goes by...ZOOM...car passes by like nothing....two seconds...ZOOM...ZOOM..two more..Three cars in as many seconds crossed a red light, I had no problems coming to a stop, everything was smooth and these people were WAY behind me...yet they were not paying any attention. Makes me wonder if any of them made it home that day...
