Boot Linux from expresscard slot

With SD cards up to 8 GB in capacity, I would very much like to put Linux OS onto an SD card, and boot from it. Or, just remove it and boot Windows normally.

Unfortunately, the new T60 doesn't even have any card reader built-in. I found SD card reader in expresscard format. Can anyone confirm whether boot from expresscard is possible? Is this an option in the bios?

I ordered a T60, but the unit hasn't arrived yet. I am very much excited with this idea. Please confirm.

I don't think booting from expresscard i supported on any thinkpad.

But what you can do is make a small partition of say 50mb with just the kernel on it and boot into your system from the harddrive. And load the whole Linux distribution from a Compact Flash or SD card.

That means you have all the applications, libraries, files on your Compact flash or SD card.

This requires some expertise, and is not for the faint of heart.

You are right, it will require quite a lot of expertise, which I don't have.
