Not quite sure what you mean - the keyboard is dusty and I guess I should have wiped down the screen as well - but there aren't any significant scratches or marks on the bezels or case and the machine has never traveled, just sat on a desk while I've owned it. No obvious wear on the keyboard either as I never type on it. It looks better than either of the other A series machine I have. It is NOT new in box.
Perhaps I need to take more flattering pictures (like the no flash, blurry dark ones I seen for some postings) or refrain from voicing an opinion on it's cosmetic quality (which I've removed).

Dan, try taking some photos of your own pristine Thinkpads. They would most likely look 5/10 too. The flash exaggerates minor blemishes, such as fingerprints and dust.dsigma6 wrote:I'm interested, but the pics make it look like a 5/10...what's the deal?

Wait, what happened? I was just saying your photos made your Thinkpad look worse than it really is.JBuzzard wrote:Well here's my first really bad experience selling things on this board.
And no, eBay is much worse.

This is indeed a great unit. 1G memory. 80g hard drive. What else can you expect?
I concur with PianoWizard. eBay has been really bad recently. A lot of spammers. eBay is doing nothing. EBay might go bankrupt if they continue to ignore this situation.

Buying things on eBay _can_ be much worse. I've had very good luck selling things here. The scam level does seem to be going through the roof though. And they (and PayPal) just wash their hands of it.
I much prefer this forum for thinkpad related stuff (and a mac mini this week) because the level of knowledge is so much better.
I'll try not to have such a thin skin, just not having a good morning (I guess).

I would take this in a minute if it was shiping from Canada, can't aford the taxes and duty to bring it over the border.

Shipping to Canada
So how does that work on sales of non-new stuff between two private individuals? Do you have to pay the GST, PST/HST and Canada Post fees or do I do that on my end? Any idea of what the duty rate is on used computer equipment? Thanks!

Only if you ship via USPS/Canada Post. If you ship via private carriers, you will be charged duty as well as VAT. I had that experience.tfflivemb2 wrote:I have purchased and sold things across the border into Canada, and no one has had to pay any additional fees, to my knowledge...

There is a good guide on ebay about shipping to Canada (applicable not only to eBay).
http://reviews.ebay.com/Shipping-to-Can ... 0000084869
I've bought quite a few pieces from US and strongly prefer the USPS Air Mail (or Surface if there is no rush).
Also, it is always a "hit-and-miss" case (though in case of USPS the chances to pay taxes are lower and fee is also lower), so a buyer in Canada should be ready to pay taxes/fees in any case.
Thanks,
Val

In addition to pst gst & duties, there's also brokerage fees of $25/$35 for items of that price range, if a courier is used. Once I even received a belated invoice for brokerage for an item shipped usps. It never used to be like this prior to 9/11.
