I'll let dr_st answer that question for himself when he decides to throw in his two cents on this thread, but I certainly do hope to see him soon.
When are we doing the next "big" NYC meeting, old friend ? Any chance of you stopping here to give a lecture or something like that?

Well, this was my fifth trip to the US overall, but only the first since December 2007. Out of the 5 trips, 2 (incl. this last one) were business (although combined with pleasure for sure
) and 3 were personal vacations. I will definitely visit again, though cannot predict when and where (nothing regular about these trips of mine).
On this trip I actually got to meet two forum members - ajkula66 and plympton. Both meetings were very fun.

I definitely hope to visit the Big Apple in the near future. When that happens, I will let you know. Last time, Brad was the only person who brought a laptop. This time, perhaps each of us should bring one!ajkula66 wrote:When are we doing the next "big" NYC meeting, old friend ?

Well , I live about 3 hours from NYC. Born in Queens so I know my way around. Maybe when you agree on a date I might be available to "share the moment" with everyone. My wifes sister still lives in Queens and we visit occasionally..............
I have met Brad here in Binghamton on one of his numerous trips up north. And yes, he did have laptops..
We'll see,

I also had a chance to meet with Billp117 in April of 2008. I rented a motorbike and toured the great northwest with Bill on his Honda. We had one of the warmest days in the spring and since the Dali Lama was visiting we had more traffic than usual. Bill was a pleasure to meet.
I look forward to meeting other forum members. If I am going to meet ThinkPad forum members I try to bring, well, ThinkPads so if there is nothing else to discuss at least we have ThinkPads.
If anyone is nearby please don't hesitate to get in touch.
It's been too long. Let's plan something soon.

I'm not sure if I should revive a thread this old, but the subject is still valid, and it would probably be a waste to start a new thread.
In an other post here, I promised that I would do my best to try to meet up with other forum members when I'm out traveling, as there apparently are no other Thinkpadders in Norway. And this weekend there is a chance. Today my wife and I are going to Manchester for a wedding reception, so we will hang out somewhere in Manchester tonight, tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday morning. I don't remember specifically if there are any forum members that I know in Manchester. But in case there is, let's meet up for a coffee or even a pint. I'm traveling light this time, so between the outfit for the reception, camera, phones and chargers, there is no room for any Thinkpad this time. But I check the forum on my phone, so just answer here.

Had you been in central southern England I would happily have bought you a pint in the local pub. No one would travel from here to Manchester on a bank holiday weekend at the start of the schools half-term break if they had any sense. The roads were jammed yesterday and today. That's life. Hope the wedding went well.

The wedding went well, and we got back to Norway last night. We experienced UK from it's best side on Saturday, with a wedding reception in the groom's parents' beautiful garden, in beautiful weather. I have mainly been to the UK on work related trips, but we'll definitely go back on a vacation this year or next year. We would particularly like to see Oxford and the surrounding areas.killer wrote:Had you been in central southern England I would happily have bought you a pint in the local pub. I'll update this thread again when we go to the US in July. I don't see a lot of users that live in Idaho, but worth checking in case someone can meet up.

We will be staying in Meridian, Idaho from next Monday and until the 2nd of August. So if any forum users lives near, travels past there, or for some other reason has the chance to meet up, that would be nice. I really have nothing much to do over those two weeks, so it's no problem for me to drive for some hours and spend the day.
On our way there, this weekend, we will also stop by for a couple of days in my wife's home town, Minneapolis, and go up to visit some of her relatives up by Thief River Falls. But I would be kind of surprised to find any Thinkpadders up there..
