Is there a "preferred" T4x model in terms of quali

I'm looking to get into the T2x or T4x family, and wonder if there is a preferred model in terms of keyboard feel and quality build. Any of the models offers plenty of horsepower, so I'd like to focus on build quality if possible. Thanks for any help!

I have used a T20, a T21, two T23's, and one T43, and have found the T2x series to have better build quality. My T43 flexes more (partly because the T43 is thinner), and certain areas of the palm rest squeaks really loud. On the other hand, all five Thinkpads' keyboards are about equally good.

I second that. If the main objective is solidness (and not power or portability), go for T2x over T4x. I've played with some T21s and T23s that felt like tanks. My T42 is very solid, but still "softer".

Another option, may be going for the R series. These are thicker than the modern T-s and should be very solid too.

Not in particular; if you are going to go for a T2X Thinkpad, try to get a loaded T23. Most of the T4X Series is very solid, especially in terms of materials whereas the R Series is moreso in terms of thickness. For a practical application, I can't really see where you would want that much solidity, as they are all have a *very* solid response when placed on a desk with keyboard in use; unless you want to heft it around with one hand...in which case, you might want an X Series.

Or a T30 which is very thick and perfect for being manhandled as opposed to plopping down on a desk or lap. Seems like a lot of people here compare the 600 build quality to the t2x, if that's the case the 600's I have owned are good build quality, but the t30 specs and strength are superior, check one out. Arguments welcome I guess, but I have actually owned both and used both.

I used to own: T21, T22, T23, T40, T41, T42, t43. I think they are all of solid quality. As to the T2X, there is one problem though--the top frame around the keyboard can be easily broken. Of the T2Xs that I used to own, 2 of them are broken around the keyboard area.

So I actually think a T4x is preferred over a T2x.
