Upgrade X30 to wi-fi,

#1 Post by dainova » Wed Dec 27, 2006 5:53 pm

I X30 :2672-42U (full specs below).
Is there any solution to intstall built-in Wi-Fi, I could not find antenna as a part to put in, and don't know how easy install main and auxiliary antennas. Plus 180* error issues, etc...

What it the risk? I'm really excited to do this project.

Will appreciate your recommendations and hints.

Tx again

The X31s, as far as I know, either came with a WiFi card or what was deemed "wireless upgradable," meaning that they already had the antennas installed and all you needed to add was a WiFi communications card. I'm not sure about the X30s, which were sold before WiFi was ubiquitous, as it is now.

If there are no antennas installed, it may be cheaper and easier for you to use a PC Card WiFi card instead.

check the sides of the lid, if there is a raised part then you have an antenna and just need a minipci card.

the 2672-N7G i have has these raised parts (same for any ibm with a wireess antenna) but no wireless card, hence being badged as a Pentium M, installed the 2100b from my t42 (upgraded that to a 2200bg), and it works fine.
