WTB: Older ThinkPad (T, R, A, G, X, etc.)
Hi everyone,
I hope the holidays have been peaceful for everyone.
With my son's birthday coming in a couple of months,
I'm looking for an older ThinkPad for him so he can
play his own games on there. Maybe Santa has been
good to you, making a ThinkPad superfluous...
My budget is $200-300, though I'd like to keep it
towards the lower end. Am willing to stretch for the
right machine, though. I am open to suggestions if
my wishes are richer than my budget...
Preferred system specs:
* PIII-M
* XGA screen
* DVD-ROM drive
* 512 MB RAM (256 should be OK with Win2000)
* Win2000 (or newer) COA
I'm not sure I need WiFi, though I'm sure my son
would like having it.
Thanks for your time. I've learned a lot about maintaining
my wife's T42 on this forum (except for how to replace
broken LCD latches!).

I have an A30 for sale...

Might really be more than you need but I could drop some items (like the 2nd hard drive and Ultrabay carrier, and the 2nd 512MB of RAM) to get it towards your price range. If you need a DVD-ROM specifically I don't have that (they go for about $20, just sold one for that) but can swap out the CDRW for a CDRW/DVDROM potentially.
let me know if you're interested....

I saw this the other day...
I was going to ask whether you would consider selling
with the Celeron installed and without one of the batteries.
Looks like you've got quite a bit of interest on eBay. Good
luck with the sale.

Or if it were to be bundled with an external USBtfflivemb2 wrote:If it comes with a base, the OP would have access to an optical drive, but still maintain super portability...qviri wrote:X-series do not have an optical drive. Maybe consider taking them off your topic.
optical drive like one that was recently sold on the
forum...
Thanks for the tips. Keep 'em coming.
