[SOLD] FS: Maxed out & loaded 600X P3-500, 576MB RAM, 60

SOLD locally on Craigslist
Thank you for looking. Now, I'll have to look for one :D

SPECS
2645-4EU
Pentium 3 500Mhz
576MB (max) memory
60GB 7K60 (7200RPM) drive
Almost new 4400 mah battery (last over 2 - 3 hrs) + 1 dead
Almost new 24X CD drive + 1 dead (doesn't read most CDs)
1 swappable floppy drive
Built In Modem + 1 Xircom ethernet & modem combo card + 1 USB WiFi adapter 802.11g.
Cable & AC adapter included.
Windows 98 SE COA at the bottom. Running test install of Windows 2K SP4. I can install Windows XP Professional for you (you'll need your own license). You'll need to tell me how you want it. Otherwise, the laptop will come formatted to a C: prompt.

Pictures
View online (1024x768 resolution) OR download full size pictures as a zip file. The filesize is about 40MB. All pictures are 1712x1368 resolution. PM for questions or more pictures.

Condition
Keyboard is almost like brand new. No shines that I can see. The hinges are tight. No wobble like most laptop I've ever seen. A little finger nail nicks next to the speaker when previous owner took off Intel sticker. No dead pixels. Everything works. The built-in mic. The speakers. The built in modem. BIOS is up to date. There are NO password of any kind in the BIOS. So, upgrade all you want.

All the cover, all the holes are complete. Every single part is working. Nothing missing. 2 scratches at the bottom (as in the picture). The view on top, sides are excellent. No problem running Windows XP Professional. Very fast for general purpose usage (email, web, typing, music). Also no heat issues. Will only warm your lap. Not burn. Mobile meter tells me the CPU at idle is about 38C and the hard drive is about 33C idle. Add about 10-15C for underload. The fan noise is almost non-audible.

Unnoticeable pressure mark on the screen. Cannot be seen in the pictures. Also hard to see sitting in front of the laptop physically. It needs to be certain angle (about 3 feet off center and closer than 1 foot from the screen to see it). I see it because I'm a graphic designer/web developer that can see a 6pt font on screen and differentiate between all the 16 million colors :D.

There are some minor software issues which is probably my fault other than anything with the laptop. But, I'll disclose it anyway. One is that the xircom network card sometimes not reconnecting to the network after more than a day of standby (have to disable re-enable network or until eject and reinsert the card) running Windows 2000 Professional SP4. Also there is a delay coming out of standby of more than a day. I don't know what is causing it.

It could be my newly acquired junk Linksys router from eBay or the OS or the Xircom. Or it could be that I've disabled too many essential services in trying to squeeze very ounce of performance out of it.

Anyway, everything works 100% under default install (nothing tweaked) of Windows XP Professional. 0 issues.

Reasons for selling
This laptop runs great. Can catch up with my old p4 1.4ghz, 768MB ram, 7200RPM desktop, running Windows XP. This laptop has no issues running Windows XP Professional. But, I've recently upgraded my desktop to Core-2-Duo with 2GB ram and 15K RPM drive. So, whenever I switch to using my laptop, I noticed a big speed decrease. Also my wife's been wanting a laptop that she can use to watch DVD movies. Have to keep her happy :).

Misc + trust
My eBay id is the same as my username here. 91 feedbacks (100% positive). This is both buying and selling account. Most expensive item I've sold on eBay is about $700 Cisco router. My heat is the same but only 2 or 3 feedbacks. I can take paypal (any source). You'll be given my cellphone number & address once a deal is reached. Or personal check is fine as well.

I'll guarantee the working condition. If for any reason, you don't like it after you receive it, return it to me (I'll pay return shipping). All I ask is I deduct $15 from what you have paid me to cover part of the 2-time shipping. You will have 7 days (starting from the day you receive it) to decide. Please note if you break it, drop it, crack the lcd, drown it, you own it.

Price
$380 shipped within US, obo. Will consider International shipping if arrangements can be made with currency & custom duties.
Really not in a rush to sell. As I like this laptop (awesome keyboard) quite a lot, I will not let it go under $300. Please don't ask.

Sounds like an awesome machine, but I have to wonder why you would not just buy a DVD drive for it and have your wife use it.
Also, even though it sounds very nice, someone could purchase a much faster and thinner T 21 or T22 for about the same money..maybe less...I am not trying to knock you but it seems the price is going to be a big stumbling block.

You're not married. Are you? :)

Understood. The price is OBO. And my bottomline price is very reasonable. I've checked the prices here in the forum and on eBay. Besides, I don't see a lot of money back offers here or on eBay. That should worth something.

Am I married?.....Yes I am.....to the most spoiled ( by my own hand) woman on the face of the earth..plus two daughters in competition for her royal throne  .....as for the price on your laptop...sorry I really am not trying to sound negative...I am the biggest cheapskate there is and sometimes I guess I come off wrong...I wish you the best of luck with selling this...What is important to me, may not be as important to someone else. And for me, most of the time, it is price.

Sorry. I just meant to make a joking point about my wife always telling me. Not her listening. :D It's ok. I'm also a bargain hunter. We all love saving bucks :).
