Hello,
I purchased my ThinkPad T60 from my school, where they chose the 60GB HDD and preloaded it with all of the "special" software and settings. I want to upgrade my HDD to a 160GB Western Digital Scorpio. How can I image both, the recovery partition and the main partition onto a new HDD?
Thanks in advance,
Edwin Suarez

Re: HDD Upgrade
Presumably, yes. The T60 uses SATA drives and does not have the "2010 error" issue associated with the T43. You will need to image the whole drive, which can be done several ways, with Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image or with Thinkvantage Rescue and repair. You need to check that the image, in fact, contains both partitions.edwin108 wrote:Hello,

If after going through the process you end up with a disk that won't boot, there is a diskette or CD you can produce that will repair the Master Boot Record. Refer to this thread for links and perhaps additional information:

It would make sense that the warranty for the new HDD would be covered by the manufacturer of the drive and not by Lenovo unless your purchasing it from and having it installed by Lenovo.Rwang wrote:btw, do any of you know whether lenovo will have warranty coverage for the new HDD? If my system warranty is 3 yrs and I buy a new HDD within the 3 yrs, can the new HDD get the remaining of the 3yr warranty?
