little screw?

#1 Post by NoBob » Wed Sep 08, 2004 12:49 pm

Hi,

A plastic bag with a little screw in it came with my new T41. I've worked out -- not too difficult -- that if screwed into the little hole on the bottom of the machine underneath the CD drawer, it stops a slider switch from releasing a black plastic thingy that pops out. Any idea what the black thingy does?

its the release tab fot the drive
if the screw is in place the drive is not removable until you remove the screw

Despite a long time living in the country, I'd just like to say that I've never had a little screw in a plastic bag...on a blanket, but never in a plastic bag...

It's a nice option for the folks with DVD multiburners or those Rambo II drives and keep their computers in high-traffic areas (such as libraries, schools, etc). Even when a computer is locked to a desk, it's just too easy to pop out that $400+ part.

You should try it Ian. It's totally awesome. A bit difficult to move, but once you get used to it, it's an endless joy for both of you.

Ian,

Reading that while sitting in the library and drinking coffee wasn't the best idea. I shot some coffee out of my nose (onto my LCD) and have a bunch of people staring at me....

quite funny...
