Will the T60 Take This RAM?

#1 Post by wswartzendruber » Mon Jan 01, 2007 11:34 am

Hey Guys,

I have a T60 1953-D6U with a Core 2 Duo T7200 that I put in and want to bring the RAM up from 512 MB to 2 GB. I have found the following RAM for sale online at NewEgg.com:

Transcend JetRam 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory - Retail

My question is whether or not the T60 will take this stuff. I remember buying some RAM back a few years ago for my T22 that I thought would work and it didn't. The above RAM has excellent reviews.

Thanks.

The easiest way to do this go to www.crucial.com use there scanner to know which type is best for your system.

wswartzendruber,
Thanks for the heads up on this memory. Excellent price. I just received and installed it today and it appears to work fine. I pushed the memory a bit by simultaneously loading and running 3 windows xp vmware virtual machine sessions and they all performed very well with no problems. :D

Core 2 Duo + 2 GB RAM = No matter what's already open, new stuff opens as fast as I can click.

The price on the newegg.com is dropping $2/$5 almost every week. Any specific reason for that?

RAM behaves like a commodity, unlike most other electronic components. Depending on the demand and supply, the prices go up and/or down. Last fall, the prices started going up, and it appears that those prices are finally starting to come back down.

Here's another example of cheap RAM available these days:

I don't like MWAVE's relatively high shipping charges. It's about $8 for this tiny RAM!

Bought one 1 GB Transcend stick from NewEgg. Added to the default 512 MB one hour ago. Laptop seems clearly faster. No problems.
