T60 Restore Image

#1 Post by Lazarus » Tue Jan 02, 2007 11:57 am

Hi !

I'm trying to restore my T60p to factory state, because I want to sell it.
But I wiped out the original maintenance partition in the process of trying to install my operating system and now I can't restore it.
I don't want to having to register this unit to get the restore CDs, as I think that will reduce the sales value (warranty and so on).

Is there any other way for me to get my hands on an image of that restore/maintenance partition for the T60p?

I can't image that registering a system would reduce it's sales value. In fact, I would feel comforted knowing that the person I was buying from was the (currently) registered owner - it would relieve background fears that the machine might have been stolen.

If you can't get IBM to give/sell you a set of restore CD's, you can always put XP on it and manually install the IBM software from the T60 device driver matrix (or, let Software Installer do it for you).
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

Please people, if you can't help me out just ignore my posting (instead of feeling compelled to post something/anything).
Its a matter of fact that registering a system starts both the maintenance and warranty period - thus reducing the remaining time left for suppport.
And I'm not even sure if its possible to get that transferred. to somebody else later on
In any case I already had numerous eBuyers contact me for prove the system is un-registered - so they do care about that!

And your suggestion of installing Windows from scratch on that box is most surely not helpfull.
I tried that once and what I got was nothing even close to the original factory install.
All those suggestions would reduce the re-sale value of this box by hundreds of $$$.

My Question was very simple: Is there any other way for me to get my hands on an image of that restore/maintenance partition for the T60p?

PLEASE, no replies that do not relate to that question, PLEASE!!!
