Access Connections does not allow creation of profiles

#1 Post by cmdrtallon » Tue Jan 02, 2007 2:54 pm

I'm working on this problem with a new T60 which I have rebuilt using a standard image (clean WinXP install, installed drivers and software from IBM after that). Access Connections 4.21 newly installed on this particular system has the new profile options greyed out. User can only make changes to or create dialup profiles.

Normally this behavior is found when the user is not a member of the local administrator group, but the user is indeed in the administrator group. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Access Connections software with the same result. The problem is also apparent in all profiles that log on to this system.

I have searched the web with no results. At this point my thinking is that I need to alter a configuration file or registry entry to enable the functionality we need to get the user up and running.

Any help or knowledge people here may have will be greatly appreciated.

I tried to help a user some months back with same problem. AFAIK he was never able to get it to work with the latest version of Access Connections that was available then. Generally I believe these problems are created by installing the software and drivers in the wrong order. Always install the wireless driver software first and Access Connections last.

Since then I saw this post by antera309 that may work to resolve your problem.

You know, those registry keys are something I overlooked. Appreciate your help and will try this out with my user tomorrow.

Thanks!
