X60s driving dual external monitors via VT Book

I recently set up my home office using the X60s. X60s sits in Ultrabase. VT Book external graphics card plugged into PC slot. Two Samsung 19" 940BW monitors. End result is three monitors - X60s internal plus the two 19"s. A bit of trouble w/ the resolution - can't do the native 1440 x 900 on the Samsungs, so using a lower resolution (something like 1280 x ?, still experimenting) and image not as clear as I'd like - but overall very nice. Thanks to this forum for helping me figure out how to set everything up. If I'd chosen a different external monitor, that wasn't a widescreen, would have been easier. Just need to get a dongle adapter for the external keyboard (Lenovo OEM keyboard taken from a Lenovo desktop, and is not USB) and I'm all set.

Can you set up one of the 19" on your X60's Intel card at 1400x900 and the other using VTBook at 1400x900? I'm want to run 2 20" screens on it without the 12" X60s screen in use. Thanks!!

I've actually exchanged the Samsung 940bw widescreens (1440-900) for a pair of Viewsonic 19" conventional aspect ratio (1280-1024) monitors, to get a clearer picture. Even though the Viewsonics are VGA-only, usng their native resolution is sharper than downsizing the DVI Samsungs. Since the VT Book Dual Display cable requires 1 VGA and 1 DVI display, I am running one Viewsonic from the VGA port on the Ultrabase, and one from the VT Book, also using the X60 internal LCD.

So I can't experiment w/ the 1440 x 900 Samsungs anymore. However, when I was setting up the Viewsonics using the VT Book, I did not see a resolution option higher than 1280 x 1024. Looking through the VT Book manual, I also don't see any reference to resolution higher than 1280 x 1024.

One thing I did notice when running the dual Samsungs off the VT Book - sometimes one monitor or the other wouldn't get a video signal, despite being enabled w/ all cables tight, and I'd have to reboot. I wonder if the VT Book was having trouble getting enough power for both monitors? Anyway, I didn't investigate.

I want to connect 2x 1280x1024 displays to my x60 and from looking around this forum I have to options;

1. Matrox Dualhead2go, I will not use the internal LCD at the same time.
2. VTbook.

I e-mailed VTbook and asked about x60 and vista compabillity and got this replay

"we received reports of problems with the X60/T60 models so I won't recommend to use that system with VTBook for the moment. We are still trying to get a test unit from Lenovo and verify/fix these issues.


About Vista, we have beta drivers that can be tried but there are many open issues, mainly due to the Vista limitations listed here: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/di ... Vista.mspx


We still don't know the level of support we will be able to provide to Vista users. For sure Aero will be lost in the complete system for the lack of WDDM and stability depends also on the XPDM driver of the internal graphics card."

Has anyone tested the dualhead2go with my setup, or ran VTbook with Vista?
