T43: P/N 41V9706 indicates refurbished notebook?

#1 Post by afuiw » Wed Jan 03, 2007 2:31 am

Found a sticker with an "R" and the P/N 41V9706 on the bottom of my supposedly brand new T43. This was purchased directly from a Lenovo clearance sale (Boxing Day) in Canada. A search doesn't yield much on this particular P/N.

Any idea what this P/N indicates? Does the "R" mean refurbished?

Thanks.

I`ve got exactly the same sticker on the back of my T43p.
Same Nummber.

Also a brand new maschine from a sealed box.

Never thougt about it.

If its got the three month warranty and looks brand new how do I know if it is refurbished?

Don't refurbished systems have a reduced warranty & support period?
So just call IBM/Lenovo support to register the system and see what they say about it.

It is definitely not refurbished, because I got several brand new sealed machines like that.

But have no clue what it means.

ANY refurbished laptop will have one or more "X"es in the TYPE

ex. 2373-X5X

or 2668-X54

That's teh easiest way to determne that

BTW, serial number usually starts with something ELSE other than, 99, or L3, and others common.

Sorry, but that's just not true.
I'm typing this on a refurbished T43p and it got no "X"es in its type or serial #.

T43p - refurbished.
But I'm getting a new one, as they scamed me on this one.
There are lots of parts & features "missing", but I was so busy trying to get my T60p to work, that I missed the return deadline for the T43p.
I did not buy this one from IBM directly, but via eBay from a so called "Power Seller".

I'LL NEVER BUY REFURBISHED AGAIN!!

Whenever you have any doubts or if you are new to ebay, then do consult some of our ebay experts in this forum and post that thing you are going to buy (the link) in this forum and listen to our experts. You should try to buy from BillMorrow. His thinkpads are new NOT refurbished. If it is used, he will mention it.

That sheyster's ID is eritechinternational.
But now that I filed a couple of complaints about their sales practise with eBay, I can't find one single auction about their refurbished 256MB ATI Thinpads no more...
I wonder what might have happened :-)
