Please help with Chinese translation.... (T43?)

#1 Post by choiyc » Thu Sep 09, 2004 1:00 am

Hi,

I was wondering if somebody can give a summary of these sites,
(also, how reputable are these sites anyway?)

http://www.sundigi.com/article/tips/tip ... ga_id=2484
http://www.sundigi.com/article/news/new ... ga_id=2543

It seems like the new T is going to be T43 (and not T50?), with new graphic card etc.
To be honest, I am trying to decide if I should wait until 533 FSB comes out.

Thanks,

YC

The Dothan 533Mhz FSB will hit the streets this quarter. Together with the Intel Alviso chipset, this will bring its features up one notch. The question is whether IBM will launch a new generation of T-Series? At present, no official information is avaiable, except a rumour that Rome-Platform will continue headed towards SONAMA. Even the possibility of it named T43. If the 533Mhz FSB Dothan and Alviso chipset required TDP is taken into consideration, T43 will face greater heat dissaption challenges. Therefore, the T42 expansion to 15" is possibly in preparation of the T43 as once the machine size is enlarged, the space for heat dissapation apparatus is increased, such that a SONOMA+Mobiligy FireGL X1 combination in the T43 would not be impossible. No matter how the Rome-Platform evoles, its roots will be firmly as a 14" form factor. If the market heads towards a 15" form factor, even a 15.4" display, Yamato Lab will have to redesign a new T-series. The webmaster postulates that at the earliest, a new generation T-series will surface in the first half of 2005; what would it look it? We can only wait and see.

It is possible to see from the Thinkpad development that the Rome platform (T40 being the first generation, T41 is Rome2, T42 is Rome3, T43 is Rome4) will continue to be used until, roughly, 2006, meaning that we can only see a new look Thinkpat T after 2006. Luckily, Thinkpad is still designing the late phase T43 (to be released this October onwards) which looks to be a pretty good design. What is surprising is that even though there are large charges (from Centrino to Sonoma), it is still named "T43" and not "T40", meaning that it remains a Rome platform design.
