R52 TP screen blanks out intermitently...

i got this weird issue with my thinkpad R52 whereby while working on Windows, the screen will blank out suddenly. My user claims she's working on some documents when this occured. Another few other occasions, she was working on other apps when this occured.

The weird thing is when the screen blanks out, it seems the system is still running but you can't see what is displayed on the screen. One example is when i press the ThinkVantage button, i can see hdd activity and the music startup sound of the app powering up.

But no matter what i do, i can't seem to bring the display back, even closing and opening the cover to force it to sleep. I also tried to hibernate it to no avail.

Anyone has this issue before?

During the screen blackout on the notebook, try hooking to another external monitor and report back what you see.

Which R52 model is that? I also have an R52 which has already been with me for nearly 2 years and i have abused and tormented it nearly everyday with extreme workload and the display never failed except for the HDD.
