No need to do anything. The X300 chip will automatically use some primary memory as video ram (Hypermemory technology by ATI).

If you video ram is still 64MB, all you need to do is to update the BIOS.
My favouritePad is X61. My eBay feedback is here. :)
My next goal of upgrading my super X61 is: XGA -> SXGA+

thank you man :)

I did a upgrade( so many warnings!!!  )

but nothing happend.

Display Properties>settings>Advanced>adpter>adapeter Infor>memory Size. it is still 64MB

is this the correct way to check the Video RAM size?

or the "Hypermemory technology by ATI" will only work when you really need more than 64MB???

thank you :?: :?: :?:

Yes. It is correct.

humm... you probably need to upgrade the software driver for ATI mobility Radeon as well.

This works in my friend's T43. He's got 128MB Video RAM now, but no more, though he's T43 has 2GB (the maximum for a T4x) installed.

Can somebody who's got 256MB video ram in a T43 reports the version of software driver for ATI mobility Radeon installed?

Thank you guys ,after upgrading both BIOS and the driver, I got 256MB RAM for my poor X300, hahaah

but will it be slower??because DDR2 is not so fast as Video RAM????/

It's optimized via pre-sorting and contiguity; after which, an area is kept free for optimal I/O operation speed. It really will only kick in where the card needs more RAM than it has dedicated VRAM on board...in which case, the speed difference is a minor problem. :)

It works pretty well from what I have seen, so I wouldn't worry about it not being able to handle a modern game; so long as you tweak the game settings to where it runs fine on your system.
