Linux Distro on Z61t

#1 Post by zeuiax » Thu Jan 04, 2007 4:02 pm

Very Happy New Year to all,

I am new to this forum and linux as well. Hopefully i will be getting my new Z61t 2morw. I am just wondering if there is any best suited linux distro out of the box without much manual config (don’t know much about linux) for z61t. Also if there is any sticky or write up for detailed linux installation.

Thank you and appreciate your responses

Hi and Happy New Year to you as well.

I'm also waiting for my new Z (which most likely will run only Linux). On my desktops I've been using (open)SUSE for years and I've been very happy with it. I've also installed suse (10.1) to a laptop once and pretty much everything runs ok straight out of the box. So that would be my recommendation.

You should check the site ThinkWiki which has a lot of info on running linux on ThinkPads and quite a number of installation instructions of different distros on various ThinkPads (not for z61t at the moment though...)
