IBM R50p USB problem

#1 Post by bedrigo » Fri Jan 05, 2007 1:04 pm

Hi, I have super notebook IBM R50p with ATI Radeon FireGL T2 128 MB type-1832 model-22G se.no-99DT671. Works perfectly, but both USB connectors damaged. This time I'm using PCMCIA/USB 2.0 Card. Notebook has warranty expiration date 2007-12-01 location Germany but I don't have any warranty list etc. Is possible repairing or buying mainboard or any idea? Know anybody what I may doing ? I'm living in Slovak republic.

You can try to buy the USB connector from any of the computer tools shop for about SGD$3.00 (sorry i do not know what currency your country is using) and unsolder the old USB connector and replace it with the new connector. Be sure to check to see if yours is a USB 2.0 or 1.1 type.

I have changed my USB connector using this method previously and it works. :-)

Sorry, you don't understand me, I don't have USB connectors damaged mechanically. Data from or to USB not works. I think that chip intel 82801DBM is partial damaged because bluetooth module not works too even if OK. It was tested on IBM T41. Operating system XP recognized USB controller, however USB are total dead.

Hi!
I have the same R50p :). My advise: find local IBM service and ask them. If your laptop hasn't been reported as stolen, I think that they will repair yours under warranty.
Good luck!
