new cable and inverter needed for XGA -> SXGA LCD switch?

#1 Post by jbeyer » Sat Jan 06, 2007 1:15 am

Hey guys,

I currently own a T42 (Type 2378) with a 14" XGA. I'm considering swapping the LCD for an SXGA LCD.
I've seen conflicting information about if I need to also switch the cable and inverter. Can anyone answer this definitively?
Also, I connect my laptop to a 1680x1050 external monitor. Will the Radeon 7500 with 32MB be able to handle both the SXGA and the 1680x1050 at the same time?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

- you only need the new sxga+ cable, i think the inverter is the same. you can look the FRU number up in the hardware maintanence manual. i bought one directly from ibm spare parts here. It suprised me a bit it only cost about 15USD...

Don't know about the resolution, i run a sxga and 1920x1440 display but that off the 128mb firegl---

regards,
jesper james
